The owner of a €500 voucher left in a taxi shortly before the driver’s death in a paragliding accident at the weekend has been found, the man’s widow has said.
Rafal ‘Ralph’ Skóra (41), a Polish national living in Artane, had gone out of his way to identify the owner of the voucher, which was left in his car last Friday night, and had made conact with the man.
However, he died on Saturday after going paragliding in the Wicklow Mountains before being able to return the voucher.
Dominka Skóra, who was married to the father of three, on Monday urged the man who left the voucher in the taxi to make contact as her late husband had been very keen to return it and she had no means on reaching him.
“Thankfully after my appeal for him to come forward, as Rafal would have wanted him to have it, he made contact with me, which I am delighted about. He is due to marry abroad next week and the family wish him all the best.”
She said the man, who wished to remain anonymous, had told her “ about how nice Rafal was to him. We are making arrangements to get the voucher to him”.
A fundraising campaign set-up to help the Skóra family cover the costs of Rafal's funeral had raised more than €10,000 by Tuesday afternoon.
