A Dublin man with a large number of convictions has been told he is not to visit Kerry for two years after he admitted stealing an Apple iPhone from a woman’s purse during last year’s Rose of Tralee festival.
Radu Muntenau (21), Applewoods Lawn, Tallaght, who appeared before Judge James O’Connor at Tralee District Court yesterday, was given a seven-month prison sentence, which was suspended on condition he pay €1,000 into the court poor box by December and not go to Co Kerry for two years.
The phone had already been recovered, the court heard, and when interviewed last May, Muntenau admitted the theft and said he was sorry.
Garda Insp Tony Sugrue said on the night of August 18th, at the Abbey Bar, Bridge Street, Tralee, Muntenau had taken the black phone from the young woman’s purse, which was inside her handbag.
Muntenau, a married father of two, was unemployed and on jobseeker’s allowance, his solicitor said. He was drunk during the theft, he added
