Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle collision in Co Monaghan

A motorcyclist has died after his bike collided with a car in Co Monaghan on Saturday afternoon.

The man aged in his 40s received treatment from paramedics at the scene on the Old Armagh Road but was later pronounced dead.

The collision occurred at about 4.50pm.

The motorcyclist’s body was taken to Monaghan General Hospital where a postmortem will take place. Gardaí said in a statement that no other injuries reported.

The road where the collision occurred will remain closed overnight. A technical examination of the scene will take place in the morning.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available to them.
