Opel says Zafira B owners can get vehicles inspected for free

Car manufacturer taking reports of vehicle fires ‘very seriously’

Opel Zafiras built between 2005 and 2012 are being investigated for a potential risk of fire in the air conditioning and heating system.

Opel Ireland has said owners of certain Zafira B model cars are entitled to a free inspection of the vehicle amid fire safety concerns.

The company is carrying out and investigation following reports of fires in the heating and ventilation systems in the vehicles.

In a statement, Opel said “Zafira B model customers with manual air conditioning or no air conditioning from 2005-2014 can go to their Opel dealership for a free inspection. If any of the parts in the heating and ventilation system need replacing, Opel will do so at no cost to the customer.

Opel said the number of incidents of fires was extremely low but that it was taking the issue very seriously “and will take further action”.
