Pedestrian dies after being struck by van in Co Kerry

A man in his 40s was killed when he was hit by a van in Co Kerry.

The pedestrian was struck on a minor road near the village of Causeway at around 8.15pm on Saturday.

The driver of the van, who is in his 50s, was not injured in the incident.

The dead man has been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry where a post mortem will be carried out. A report will be sent to the local coroner.

The scene of the incident was cordoned off on Sunday morning to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. – PA
