The finale of this year's Spraoi International Street Arts Festival will take place this week, featuring live music, dancers and an aerialist, among others.
Spraoi Festival traditionally takes place over three days of the August bank holiday, but this year the festival underwent an overhaul and was transformed into a “Spraoi season of events”.
During the month of August, multiple events were presented at various Waterford city and county sites. More than 60 socially distanced street performances took place throughout the city.
This week’s finale, Prism, closes a month of activities in the grounds of Waterford Courthouse.
The prism is an open-sided, tent-like structure and temporary performance space made from forestry poles. It is 9m high, 16m wide and 30m deep, erected at the Waterford Courthouse.
The production will be presented at dusk nightly, when both the structure and courthouse are illuminated.
The audience will stand around the perimeter and the performers, including dancers, live music performers and an aerialist, will be inside.
The new model was designed in response to Covid-19 contingencies, dispersing audiences over time and locations.
Prism Spraoi is a ticketed event and all seven nights are sold out, with just less than 200 people attending the outdoor event each night.
