Device failed to ignite last night and woman alone in house was uninjured

The incident happened at around 11.45pm when a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Blackwater Grove in Togher but failed to ignite.

A woman in her late 50s was alone in the house at the time and was uninjured but was said to be shaken by the attack which has shocked the local community.

Gardaí from Togher responded to the incident and garda technical experts carried out a forensic examination on the remains of the petrol bomb.

Gardaí also began door to door inquiries in the area to see if anyone saw any suspicious activity while they have also begun checking to see if CCTV footage in the area.

Gardaí are keeping an open mind on the attack but one line of inquiry they are pursuing is whether it may be linked to am ongoing feud between two families on Cork's southside.
