Renewed call for information over Skerries hit-and-run

Male pedestrian remains in a serious condition in hospital a month after being struck by a vehicle

Gardaí in Balbriggan, Co Dublin, have renewed their appeal for information about a hit-and-run incident during the early hours of Tuesday, December 27th, which left a 27-year-old man in a serious condition in hospital.

The man, a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle on the R128 Skerries to Loughshinny Road. He remains in a serious condition in Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing to the driver of a blue Volkswagen Transporter van who may have information relating to the incident to contact them.

They are also asking anyone who may have seen the van in the vicinity of Skerries in the early hours of December 27th to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01 8020510, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

In a separate incident, four young people who were involved in an overnight car crash in Drogheda Co Louth are said to be “doing well” after being taken to hospital.

The single vehicle crash at Timure Village near Drogheda occured at approximately 10.20pm on Friday night.

The four were were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where a spokeswoman said all injuries were “ non-life threatening”.

It is understood two of the teenagers were discharged shortly afterwards while others were said to be doing well.

Gardai in Drogheda are investigating the incident and witnesses are asked to contact the investigating team there or at any garda station.
