Runaway bus smashes through traffic lights and signs at Dublin Airport

Signage and traffic lights are damaged after bus rolls backwards from ramp at T2

There was traffic disruption at Dublin Airport on Monday morning after an empty double decker bus rolled backwards down a ramp into traffic lights, road signs and trolleys before coming to a halt on a grass embankment.

The road to Terminal 2 was shut briefly to allow for the bus to be removed folllowing the incident which happened at about 8am.

The Bus Éireann vehicle was not in service but was waiting to operate its next run on the 133 Wicklow route. It is understood the driver was not on board.

A spokeswoman for DAA said no one was injured in the incident.

A spokeswoman for Bus Éireann said the incident was being investigated and that there were no passengers on board the bus at the time.
