Man pronounced dead at scene of two-car crash in city, driver taken to Mater Hospital

A man travelling as a passenger in a taxi has died following a car crash in the early hours of Friday in Dublin city.

The man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-car crash at Summerhill Parade. The incident occurred at 1.40am.

The driver of the taxi was taken to the Mater hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the other car was uninjured, according to gardaí.

The road at the scene was closed for a time to allow for a forensic examination, but has since reopened.
