Gardaí in Ballyfermot are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A teenage boy was killed in a motorcycle crash in Cherry Orchard on Friday morning.

Gardaí­ in Ballyfermot are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The crash happened shortly before 8am when two motorcycles collided on Cherry Orchard Avenue.

A teenaged male was seriously injured in the crash and was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The second motorcyclist, a male aged in his early 20s, was also taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda forensic investigators have been requested to examine the scene and the coroner has been notified.
