Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with assault on a man (30) who was kicked in the head in Dublin city centre on St Patrick’s Day.

Gardaí began an investigation into the attack after a video of the incident was uploaded to YouTube.

The video shows a man lying on the street being attacked by a group of youths near a bookmakers on Aston Quay in the city centre at about 3.00pm on St Patrick’s Day.

One of the youths is seen kicking the man – who is believed to be Brazilian – in the head, apparently knocking him unconscious.

In the video, eyewitnesses can be heard screaming in shock.

As soon as the attackers ran off, a number of bystanders can be seen running to the injured man’s side.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the victim was taken to St James’ Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

He was later discharged following treatment on Tuesday and is recovering from his injuries.

Gardaí said they will not release details about the victim’s identity until they have interviewed him.

Gardaí in Pearse Street investigating the assault arrested two youths, aged 16 and 17, last night in the Dublin 2 area.
