Two men and a woman have been arrested following the seizure of €150,000 worth of drugs in north Cork on Friday evening.

Gardaí made the arrests after they stopped and searched a car in the Kanturk area at around 6pm and recovered a large quantity of cannabis resin.

Two men in their 40s from the Kanturk area and a woman in her 40s from the greater Killarney area were detained for questioning.

A series of follow-up searches were carried out on a number of premises in Kanturk as well as a search of a house in the greater Killarney area where they found a small quantity of cocaine.

The three people arrested were detained under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act which allows gardaí detain suspects for up to seven days before they have to be charged or released.

One of the men and the woman are being held for questioning at Mallow Garda station, while the second man was taken to Gurranebraher in Cork city.

It is understood the seizure and arrests follow a Garda investigation with a regional focus into drug dealing in the run-up to Christmas.
