Broadcaster Ryan Tubridy published his second book in Dublin last night and said he had a “burning ambition” to write a children’s book at some stage.
His new book, The Irish Are Coming, is an examination of the relationship between Britain and Ireland through the lens of Irish people who have lived in Britain and "succeeded over there in some shape or form", he said.
Among those featured are broadcaster Terry Wogan, Harry Potter actor Fiona Shaw, and musician Bob Geldof.
“I think it’s a good selection from a variety of walks of life and it has a cultural resonance,” Tubridy said.
“It’s a completely arbitrary selection of about 40 personalities I feel have made a critical and important impact on the United Kingdom. It’s a celebratory book to say ‘didn’t we do well’. These are the people who made Britain great.”
