A two-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman have died following separate road incidents in Waterford and Kerry.

This morning a girl aged two died after she was struck by a lorry in Waterford. The girl’s mother (30) sustained minor injuries and both were taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, where the child was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses are asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051-305300.

Separately, a 60 year old woman pedestrian died after being struck by a car at Manor West, Tralee, Co Kerry at around 6.30 pm this evening.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Kerry General Hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured. The road was closed tonight and diversions were put in place to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators
