Two dead in Dublin, Cork crashes

Two men, 60 and 30, are killed, while 23-year-old sustains serious head injuries in Clare crash

Two people died in separate road traffic crashes in Dublin and Cork over the weekend, and a man suffered serious injuries in a crash in Co Clare.

A 62-year-old man died following a single-vehicle crash on the M50 in Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning. The crash happened on the southbound stretch between the junctions for Ballymount and Tallaght shortly before 1am. The car, in which the man was a passenger, left the road and hit a lamp-post and protective barrier.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver (60) was taken to Tallaght Hospital in critical condition.

On Friday a two-vehicle crash occurred at Coolfadda, Co Cork around 6pm. A male driver (30) was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Separately a 23-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after being involved in a single vehicle collision early on Sunday morning when his vehicle crashed into a stone pillar at Knockalough, near Kilmihil.
