Two men arrested over gangland murder

Two men have been arrested in connection with the 2012 murder of gangland figure Eamon Kelly in Dublin.

Kelly (65) was shot as he was walking on the Furry Park Road in Killester, near Clontarf, on December 4th, 2012.

The shooting was was linked to tensions between a number of criminal gangs in Dublin city.

Gardaí in Clontarf investigating the murder of Kelly today arrested two men in connection with his killing.

One of the men is in his mid-30s and the other is in his mid-40s. They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Clontarf and Raheny Garda stations.

Kelly first came to public attention when he was caught with cocaine valued at £500,000 in 1992.

A number of people were arrested following his death and a man was charged in connection with his murder at the Special Criminal Court less than a week after the shooting.
