Two motorists in their 60s were killed in separate road incidents in Counties Tipperary and Kilkenny this evening.
A driver in his 60s was killed in a collision with a tractor in Co Tipperary.
Gardaí in Tipperary are investigating the two-vehicle crash on the N74 at Thomastown at approximately 5.00pm.
The man, who was the sole occupant, was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a tractor.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to South Tipperary General Hospital. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.
The stretch of road where the incident happened was closed last night to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions were put in place.
Earlier, the female driver of a car was killed when it hit a railway bridge near Paulstown, Co Kilkenny.
Gardaí in Thomastown are investigating the single-vehicle incident on the R712 which happened at about 4pm.
The woman, in her early 60s, was the sole occupant of the car. She was taken to St Lukes Hospital in Kilkenny where she was pronounced dead.
The section of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. It has since reopened.
