Two women dead after being knocked down in separate incidents

Pedestrians fatally injured when struck by vehicles in Tipperary and Dublin

Gardaí in Tipperary and Dublin have appealed for witnesses to come forward following fatal road incidents in both counties.

Two pedestrians have died in separate road traffic incidents in Tipperary and Dublin.

In Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, a woman aged in her 70s died after she was knocked down by a lorry.

The incident occurred at Townspark on the Limerick to Waterford Road(N24) at approximately 1pm.

Th woman was struck when crossing the road. She was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions were put in place.

Gardaí asked witnesses to contact them­ in Clonmel on 052 6177640, through the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Southbound carriageway of the N11 close to Cabinteely Village this afternoon, Wednesday 4th May 2016 shortly before 1pm.

In Dublin, a woman aged in her early 80s died after being struck by a car. She was pronounced dead at scene. Her body was taken to St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown.

The N11 southbound carriageway was closed at Cornelscourt and diversions were put in place.
