The Western Canada Rose has been criticised on social media for mistaking Ireland as part of the United Kingdom.
Speaking about her family ties to Ireland on the televised Rose of Tralee contest, Sinead McGahern said:
"I have 23 first cousins in the UK. Three are currently in England and the other twenty here are in Ireland."
Twitter users were quick to point out the geographical error, with many posting head-in-hands gifs to show their dismay.
