What’s on: if football is not your thing, what about sumo, or the Ukulele?

More than 100,000 people will be in Croke Park this weekend for the two semi-finals

It is a busy sporting and cultural weekend with two Football All-Ireland semi-finals taking place in Croke Park and festivals ranging from Ukulele players to a sumo run.

Friday, 25th August

Masters of Tradition begins today and runs all weekend in Bantry, Co Cork. Performances from a range of traditional artists will take place in Bantry House and St Brendan's Church.

A guide is available on their website. Tickets cost between €15 and €50.

Dalkey Lobster Festival is also running through the weekend and Castle Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 6pm.

There will also be live street entertainment and a Kids Zone. Lobster, prawns, crab, mussels and all kinds of seafood will be available with displays and demonstrations.

Beautiful Beasts Exhibition will run until Sunday in the Ark in Temple Bar, Dublin, featuring "a weird and wonderful collection of animal sculptures," according to their website. The child-friendly exhibition is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm (last entry 4pm), and entry is free.

Weather: The northern half of the country will have heavy showers and longer spells of rain, with a risk of an isolated thunderstorm in Ulster this afternoon. There will be lengthy dry periods elsewhere. Tonight will be dry, though showers will persist in Ulster. Lowest temperatures will be 9 to 12 degrees.

Saturday, 26th August

The GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-final replay between Kerry and Mayo is starting at 3pm in Croke Park. Those driving to match are reminded that there is no right turn from Bachelor's Walk onto O'Connell Bridge for private cars.

Ukulele Hooley by the Sea 2017 will be held in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin over the weekend. Ireland's national ukulele festival will host a variety of events, and prices Saturday range from €10 to €15 euro. Admission to Sunday's main concert event in the People's Park is free.

Weather: Saturday will be largely dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, showers will affect Ulster and north Connacht. Highest temperatures during the day will be between 17 to 21 degrees.

Sunday, 27th August

The GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship second Semi-Final between Dublin and Tyrone starts at 4pm in Croke Park. The Electric Ireland Minor Championship between Dublin and Derry starts beforehand at 2pm.

Dublin City Triathlon takes place between 6.30am and 1pm. The first contestants will begin at 8am. Registration takes place at the Garda Boat Club on Chapelizod Road, Islandbridge between 2pm and 7pm on Saturday. Registration is available on Sunday for people travelling from outside Dublin between 6.30am and 7.30am. Entry costs €65.

Dublin Fun Fest will take place in Smithfield Square from 12 noon to 5pm. Hosted by Dublin City Council, the event offers family-friendly entertainment. Children can participate in events such as a child-friendly decathlon and giant Jenga. There will also be a wide range of food available. Admission is free. Sumo Run Ireland is happening from 12 noon to 2pm on Bray Seafront, Co Wicklow, in aid of Purple House Cancer Support. Entry is open to children over seven years of age.

Trim Salmon of Knowledge Festival willcelebrate the central role the River Boyne plays in Ireland's factual and fictional past from 11am to 5pm. Events will include the Boyne Adventure Race, as well as traditional music, dance and drama performances. Admission is free.

Weather: Sunday is expected to be a dry but cloudy day with occasional sunny spells and well scattered showers. Top temperatures will be 17 to 20 degrees.
