Winning €4.8m Lotto jackpot scooped in North West

There may be champagne corks popped in the North West of the country tonight. The National Lottery jackpot of €4,871,046 was won tonight by a Lotto ticket which was sold in the North West.

The winning numbers were 19, 25, 26, 27, 39, 45, and the bonus number was 42. There were no winners in the Lotto Plus One or Lotto Plus Two draws.

In June,  a  €12m jackpot ticket was sold in Bundoran, Co Donegal.

Also in  June, €2m was shared by two lucky winners in Limerick and Wexford while in March the €8.3million jackpot was sold in Kilrush, Co Clare. In January six people picked the same winning numbers and shared the same Lotto jackpot receiving some €500,000 each.

Since the first draw took place in 1988, more than 750 lottery millionaires have been created between the National Lottery’s flagship Lotto game and, in later years, additional games such as the EuroMillions.

If you live in Louth, Dublin or Donegal, the number of lottery millionaires in your midst is four times that of Kilkenny, according to analysis of €1 million-plus jackpots going back to 1989.

National Lottery figures show €14.7 million in lottery prize money was left uncollected in 2012 and winning tickets worth € 90 million have gone unclaimed in the last five years.
