Woman in her 30s dies after fatal traffic collision in Longford

A woman has died after the car she was driving crashed in Castlenugent, Co Longford.

At 10.30am on Sunday, gardaí were alerted to the single-car incident at Lisryan. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body remained at the scene early Sunday and the road was closed to allow forensic collision investigators to carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí in Granard are appealing for any road users with camera footage, who were travelling in the area between 6pm on Saturday June 26th and 10.30am on Sunday June 27th, to come forward.

Cavan

Meanwhile, gardaí in Co Cavan are appealing for information about a serious car crash in Belturbet which claimed the life of a young woman.

A woman in her 20s died following the crash, which occurred on Saturday around 12.40am on the N3 at Drumalure. One car was involved.

A male passenger was taken to Cavan General Hospital in a critical condition.

The man who was driving the car and the two other passengers, both women, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. All occupants of the vehicle were aged in their 20s.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Cavan Garda station on 049 436 8800, or the Garda confidential line.

A referral has been made to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission as the car interacted with gardaí prior to the crash.
