Average weekly earnings in the Irish distribution and business services increased by 4 per cent in 2004, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The CSO said the weekly earnings of full-time employees in enterprises with five or more persons in the distribution and business services were €631.28 in December 2004, compared with €606.86 in December 2003.
Average weekly earnings in the distribution sector were €634.50 in December 2004, compared with a December 2003 level of €605.80, an increase of 4.7 per cent in the year.
In the business services sector, average weekly earnings were €629.46 in December 2004, compared with a December 2003 level of €607.43, an increase of 3.6 per cent in the year.
The highest average weekly earnings were recorded in the post and telecommunications sub-sector, with a level of €811.47 in December 2004.
The lowest average weekly earnings were in the accommodation and catering sub-sector, at €410.92 in December 2004.
