Irish industrial production for the three months to the end of April fell 5.8 per cent, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
On an annual basis, production for all industries in April was 6.4 per cent lower than in April last year.
Production in the "modern sector", comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual decrease of 8 per cent for April; a decrease of 3.2 per cent was recorded in the "traditional" sector.
