The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries for the three-month period July to September 2003 climbed 0.8 per cent on the preceding three-month period, figures from the CSO have shown.
Production for all industries in September 2003 was 2.9 per cent lower than in September 2002.
The "Modern" sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual fall in production for September 2003 of 4.6 per cent.
An increase of 2.9 per cent was recorded in the "Traditional" sector. Industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was up 1.3 per cent in the three month period July to September 2003 when compared with the preceding three-month period.
