Cycling:Irish riders Paídi O'Brien and Paul Griffin were in the thick of the action in a 34-man sprint on the third stage of the FBD Insurance Rás today before finishing behind stage winner Dominique Rollin from Canada (US Kodak Gallery Sierra Nevada).
Most of the main players were in the breakaway group who made their move around the 50kilometre mark of the 171km stage. However, overall race leader Ricardo Van der Velde (Netherlands) missed the move and came in 19minutes and 55 seconds back among the main pack.
That meant Jesse Anthony (US Kodak Gallery Sierra Nevada) and Ireland's Brian Kenneally (Meath MyHome.ie/BDBC), who started the day second and third respectively, moved up a place in the general classification.
Anthony is the new race leader while Kenneally will start tomorrow's 137km race from Sligo to Dungloe in second place overall, two seconds back.
