Barry Roche has been appointed Southern Correspondent of The Irish Times.
Based in Cork, he will have primary responsibility for the coverage of Munster for all sections of the newspaper.
Roche (42), has been a journalist for 16 years and has contributed to several newspapers, including The Irish Times, the Irish Examiner and the Evening Echo, the Irish Independent, the Irish Sun, the Irish Star and the Irish Mirror.
A native of Cork, Roche has also worked with the Kerryman and the Corkman. He operated a freelance news agency in Cork from 1997 to 2000 and subsequently became Munster Correspondent of the Irish Sun.

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University College Cork and a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City University.
