BRIAN CAULFIELD has been appointed a non-executive director of The Irish Times Ltd.
Mr Caulfield is associated with a range of technology companies as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and angel investor.
In 1992 he co-founded Exceptis Technologies which developed dispute management software for the electronic/card payments sector. The company was sold to Trintech in November 2000.
The following year he co-founded Similarity Systems, a data quality management software company, which was acquired by Informatica in 2006.
He worked with Trinity Venture Capital between June 2002 and September 2007, sitting on the boards of a number of companies. He recently completed an assignment as interim chief executive of UK telecoms software vendor AePONA and is a board member of several early stage technology companies.
In November 2007 the Irish Software Association named Mr Caulfield its Technology Person of the Year.
He is a computer engineering graduate of Trinity College, Dublin.
