Foreign Affairs Correspondent:Mary Fitzgerald has been appointed Foreign Affairs Correspondent, a Dublin-based post involving coverage and analysis of foreign and development issues and of Irish diplomacy.
A native of Fermoy, Co Cork, she began her career reporting in Northern Ireland. The only Irish journalist to be awarded the Lawrence Stern fellowship at the Washington Post, she covered the 2004 US presidential election for that paper before moving to Jordan as a freelance print and broadcast journalist. She has worked across the Middle East and south Asia, reporting from countries including Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In 2006 she spent five months reporting on the Islamic world for The Irish Timesafter being awarded the inaugural Douglas Gageby Fellowship. She has also worked on a number of award-winning radio documentaries for the BBC.
Industry Correspondent:Martin Wall has been appointed Industry Correspondent of The Irish Times.
He has been writing about industrial relations matters in the health sector and wider public service for 20 years. He has been a news reporter with The Irish Timessince 2004 and was previously news editor of the Sunday Tribune and assistant editor of the Irish Medical Times.
Educated at Synge St CBS in Dublin, he is a graduate of the school of journalism at the College of Commerce, Rathmines.
Business Reporter:John Collins has been appointed business reporter specialising in coverage of the technology sector.
A journalist since 1994, he was previously editor of PC Live magazine and has been contributing to The Irish Timesand Ireland.com since 2004.
A native of Dublin, he was educated at Presentation College Carlow and UCD where he graduated with a degree in English and Philosophy.
