Deaglan de Breadun (above) has been appointed Northern Editor of The Irish Times. He was a member of the newspaper's political staff for the past six years.
He has reported from Moscow and was Irish Language Editor. He joined the paper in 1978 and worked as a reporter, feature writer and sub editor. He reported on the Kurdish refugee crisis in 1991.
A native of Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, he was educated at CBS Synge Street in Dublin and at UCD.
Dick Grogan (below), who has been Northern Editor since 1993, has been appointed South Eastern Correspondent and will take up this position, based in Waterford, in due course.
He joined The Irish Times in 1971 and has been Environment Correspondent, deputy News Editor and Opinion Page Editor. He previously worked for the Irish Press Group.
