LARA Marlowe has been appointed as The Irish Times correspondent in France. Based in Paris, she will also cover developments in the Maghreb area of North Africa.
Prior to this appointment she was Beirut Bureau Chief for Time magazine, covering the Arab world from Algeria to Iran.
She was educated at the University of California, the Sorbonne and Oxford, from which she holds degrees in French literature and international relations.
Her first report from France, on the lessons to be learned from a scandal about HlV contaminated blood which ended the career of several politicians, will appear on Monday.
