Two new governors have been appointed to The Irish Times Trust.

Two new governors have been appointed to The Irish TimesTrust.

Margaret Elliott is a founding partner of solicitors, the Elliott Trainor Partnership, in Newry, and is a past president of the Law Society of Northern Ireland. She has served on many public committees and is a former director of Ulsterbus, Northern Bank, National Irish Bank and Co-Operation Ireland. She is currently chair of the trustees of the National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland (MAGNI). She was awarded a CBE in 1999 and received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws at the University of Ulster in 2002.

Tom Arnold is chief executive of Concern Worldwide. Prior to that he was chief economist and assistant secretary general in the Department of Agriculture and Food. With extensive international experience in agricultural and food policy, he has served as chair on a number of OECD agricultural committees.

In April 2003, he was appointed to the UN Hunger Task Force, set up by the then UN secretary general Kofi Annan. The taskforce was charged with devising strategies to halve world hunger by 2015. He is currently a member of the Government's hunger taskforce.
