The Irish Times has won two categories at the 2004 Newspaper Awards presented in London.
The Irish Times Saturday Magazine was named Coldset Colour Supplement of the Year. The judges commented that it was "another top-class entry from Ireland - super print quality plus an eye-catching redesign makes this an easy winner".
In the Newspaper Printer of the Year category, the joint winners were The Irish Times and the Irish Independent. The judges' citation said that The Irish Times entry "stood out with exceptionally crisp printing and excellent quality on every page".
The awards, which are open to newspapers in Britain and Ireland, are for newspaper printing and production. They are organised by Production Journal, a leading trade newspaper in the UK.
The Irish Times was shortlisted in three of the 15 categories - Newspaper Printer of the Year, Coldset Colour Supplement of the Year and National Newspaper of the Year. In this latter category, which was won by the London Times, The Irish Times was commended for its "first-class" product.
