Manchester United 6 West Ham 0
Ryan Giggs and Ruud van Nistelrooy both scored twice as Manchester United cruised into the FA Cup fifth round today by beating West Ham United 6-0.
Defender Phil Neville and substitute striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added a goal each as United continued their renewed love affair with English knockout competitions after reaching the final of the League Cup in midweek.
West Ham, who knocked United out at Old Trafford two years ago, now return to the struggle to lift themselves off the bottom of the premier league.
Winger Giggs scored both of United's first-half goals, the first on eight minutes from close range after Paul Scholes' shot was cleared off the line.
His second came just before the half-hour mark, when he hit the ball first time from the edge of the penalty area and watched it take a deflection off West Ham defender Gary Breen and balloon over goalkeeper David James.
Van Nistelrooy's first goal, four minutes into the second half, was the pick of the six.
The Dutch international made space for himself on the edge of the box with some neat footwork before sending the ball past James with the outside of his right foot.
Within a minute, the match as a contest was over as Phil Neville skipped into the box and finished well. Van Nistelrooy grabbed his 24th goal for his club this season in the 58th minute before Solskjaer completed the rout after 69 minutes.
