Mr Michael O'Leary's comments on the EU Commisssion's inquiry into Ryanair's relationship with regional airports are "irritating", according to Belgian commissioner Mr Philippe Busquin.

Mr Busquin told the Belgian daily Vers L'Avenir, "Michael O'Leary is playing poker. He is terribly irritating and irritates the commissioners. We have never spoken of exact figures."

Ryanair expects the Commission to rule it must repay millions of euros to a Belgian airport in a landmark judgment on state aid next week.

EU transport regulators will decide next week whether the airline receives unfair government subsidies to operate out of state-owned Charleroi airport, some 40 kilometres south of Brussels.
