Algiers - Algeria's Islamic Salvation Army (AIS), which last June fully submitted itself to the state's authority, could take up arms again on orders from its leader, the daily paper El Watan said yesterday.
Mr Madani Mezrag was believed recently to have met chiefs of his armed wing of the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) and asked them "no longer to surrender and to prepare for a resumption of massacres and destruction across the territory", the influential paper reported.
