ANKARA A Turkish state security court yesterday charged five more Islamists with inciting people to rebellion and murder by staging a play called An Enemy of God, bringing the total charged in connection with the production to 23. The suspects face at least 20 years in jail if found guilty for breaking the article 149 of the Turkish Penal Code, the agency said.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that the Turkish army's second in command, Gen Cevik Bir, would visit Israel on Sunday. The Israeli Defence Minister, Mr Yitzhak Mordechai, said on Thursday he favoured joint military manoeuvres by the two countries and the United States.
