Palestinian President Yasser Arafat said Palestinian and Israeli officials would return to US-brokered security talks tomorrow.
Mr Arafat said US envoy Mr Anthony Zinni arranged the meeting, which would mark the first such talks since Palestinian suicide bombers struck inside Israel last weekend and Israel retaliated with fierce air strikes.
Washington sent Mr Zinni to the region last week to launch a new mission aimed at ending violence that has killed at least 748 Palestinians and 222 Israelis since a Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation erupted in September 2000.
Mr Zinni, a former Marine Corps general, met Mr Arafat today in the West Bank city of Ramallah after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in Jerusalem last night.
"He called me later after the meeting and informed me he has succeeded in arranging a security meeting tomorrow between the Israelis and Palestinians with US participation," Mr Arafat told reporters.
