Israeli troops have arrested 15 Palestinian militants in and around the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
Israeli units went through Jenin city and the adjacent refugee camp, as well as neighbouring villages, arresting members of Yasser Arafat's Fatah organisation and the hardline Islamic Jihad and Hamas groups, Palestinian sources said.
The army failed to seize local Islamic Jihad leader Basaam Saadi but arrested five of his relatives and damaged his house during the search, the sources added.
Jenin, a hotbed of radical militancy, has been the scene of almost daily searches and arrests since most of the West Bank was reoccupied by the Israeli army in June.
