Two Palestinian militants were killed by the army in clashes which broke out in the southern Gaza Strip after last night's deadly raid. Israeli troops in the West Bank also shot dead three Palestinians suspected of involvement in recent attacks.
Israel attacked the home of Hamas commander Salah Shehada with F-16s in the operation which left 176 others injured. Mr Shehada, his wife and three children were among the 15 killed.
Meanwhile in the West Bank, Israeli military sources said the army shot dead three Palestinian militants near the northern village of Tel.
The three, who were armed and wearing military fatigues, were spotted by Israeli soldiers scouring the area for militants who last week attacked a bus outside the Jewish settlement of Emmanuel, killing nine people, the sources said.
Later, shooting broke out between Israeli tanks and armed Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, Palestinian witnesses said. No injuries were reported.
A homemade Qassam rocket launched from the northern Gaza Strip this evening exploded in the Sderot area of southern Israel without causing any injuries, public radio quoted military sources as saying.
