Israel fired three surface-to-surface missiles which landed in the Palestinian-controlled village of Beit Lahia in north Gaza, wounding at least one civilian, Palestinian police said.
Police said one missile hit a house but did not explode. The house was near a Palestinian police post. Another missile hit a concrete factory and a third landed in a vacant lot.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the missile strike. An army spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
Earlier Israeli police said at least two people were lightly injured when a suspected bomb exploded near a gate leading to the Old City in Arab East Jerusalem today.
"There was an explosion close to the Jaffa Gate", a Jerusalem police spokesman said."It was apparently a bomb that exploded on the walkway...until now we have reports of two people lightly wounded".
Jerusalem police commander Miki Levy identified the wounded as two Polish tourists and said the device was apparently a pipe bomb that was left on a pathway used by both tourists and Jews to enter the Old City.
Observant Jews throng the road on Friday evenings at the start of the Jewish Sabbath heading to the Western Wall to pray.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion. But the police spokesman said he believed it was carried out by Palestinians.
