IT security company Smiths Detection will create twenty new high tech jobs at its facility in Ballincollig, Co Cork.
The jobs created will be primarily for graduates with degrees in electronic enegineering with almost half of the positions announced having already been filled in the past couple of months.
The expansion follows the recent acquisition by Smiths Detection of Farran Technology. Smiths will develope its 'Tadar' security screening technology which measures the energy emitted an from the human body and uses this to detect and identify the presence of objects hidden under the person's clothing.
The facility in Ballincollig will also be used as a service centre, to support the installed base of Smiths Detection security equipment in Ireland.
