Theatre, visual arts, dance, music, literature and design are just some elements of an international festival of children's entertainment taking place in Waterford next week.
This is the second year of Hullabaloo, which the organisers hope will make Waterford as synonymous with children's activities as Kilkenny is with comedy and Cork with jazz.
The four-day event, beginning next Wednesday, includes six theatre shows by companies from Waterford, Edinburgh, Armagh, Leeds and Belfast. David Boyd returns with his Spontaneous Music Company while Michael Roach and Ian Briggs will be explaining the history of music from blues to hip-hop and rap.
Three photographic exhibitions have been organised with the participation of children including My Favourite Thing, an Integrate Waterford-Hullabaloo project involving children from Waterford and the city's immigrant community.
A go-karting competition in which the drivers make their own karts, a street spectacular featuring 70 children and co-ordinated by Spraoi designer Dermot Quinn and a talent showcase are also elements of the festival.
The event is organised by Noeleen Dooley and Caroline Hennessy. Booking details are available from 086-3791400.
