Mr Allesandro Antonelli of Via Roma Prato, Florence was arrested at 3 p.m. yesterday after being discharged from St Columcille's Hosital, Loughlinstown where he was recovering from a road accident outside Arklow in which two people were killed.

The dead are Ms Cora Hallinan (36), of Orlaghwood, Scholarstown, Dublin, and Mr Guido Ravalli, an Italian national.

The two-car collision occurred at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Clonpadden, five miles north of Arklow, about 100 yards from where another fatal accident occurred last October in which four people died, including Senator Michael Enright.
