Milan - At least 29 people were injured when a gas canister exploded yesterday at a market-place stand in the town of Abbiategrasso, northern Italy. The blast occurred in a van which doubled as a rotisserie stand and was parked across the street from the town's hospital, where rescuers rushed about 20 of the injured.
A preliminary investigation suggested that an old gas canister used in a rotisserie furnace blew up, injuring customers waiting in line at the stand and others who were walking past.
