Lome - The heads of state of eight African countries, including presidents Thabo Mbeki of South Africa and Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, met in the Togolese capital yesterday to discuss the Ivory Coast's political situation.
A Togolese presidential source said the Ivory Coast's prime minister and foreign minister had been excluded from the first round of talks.
The leaders of Algeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Djibouti also attended the summit, hosted in the capital by Togo's President, Mr Gnassingbe Eyadema.
