An application for a renewal of an early opening general exemption order for Jack White's pub, Ballynapark, Co Wicklow, was adjourned for a week when it came before Arklow District Court yesterday. The application was in the name of Mrs Catherine Nevin, of Jack White's pub, Ballyna park. Mrs Nevin is charged with the murder of her husband, Tom, at the pub on March 9th, 1996.

Insp Peter Finn told Judge Donnacha O Buachalla that Mrs Nevin's solicitors wanted an adjournment to November 24th, which he granted. "It is of course clear that there was no transfer of the licence on the last day in court. It was a renewal, there was no objection from the gardai or any other party," Judge O Buachalla said, adding that the application before the court was the only outstanding matter.

It is understood O Buachalla's his remarks were in reference to an earlier decision in Wexford District Court, where he granted a renewal of the pub licence. The licence had been in the name of Tom and Catherine Nevin and was renewed in the name of Mrs Catherine Nevin.
