A traffic warden who allegedly took about €300,000 from parking ticket machines owned by Ennis Town Council faces imprisonment if he fails to give, by June 18th, further details of what he did with the money, the High Court has warned.

Mr Justice Kelly yesterday made an order committing Chris Harford, Kilmaley, Ennis, a supervisory traffic warden, to prison but put a stay on the order until June 18th to allow Mr Harford time to give more information on what happened to the monies he is alleged to have taken from parking machines at Dunnes Stores public car-park in Ennis.

Mr Justice Kelly gave judgment for €250,000 to the council in its action against Mr Harford.

Mr Harford had purchased a number of motor vehicles, which were in part purchased by cash.
