Jamaican faces cocaine charges

A 19-year-old Jamaican has been charged with possession of cocaine worth about £16,000

A 19-year-old Jamaican has been charged with possession of cocaine worth about £16,000. Mr Verral Sarquharson, Marchpen Road, Spanish Town, Jamaica, appeared before a special sitting of Ennis District Court yesterday charged with having been unlawfully in possession of cocaine on February 23rd at Shannon Airport.

It is alleged that Mr Sarquharson imported the cocaine in his stomach. He was also charged with possession of cocaine on the same date and place with the purpose of selling or supplying to another.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Albert O'Dea to appear in Ennis District Court on Friday.
